Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundary lines of the districts from which public officials are elected and typically follows the release of each federal decennial census. By law, the legislature is responsible for redistricting the district boundaries in Louisiana for the state legislature, the U.S. House of Representatives, the state Supreme Court and other state courts, the Public Service Commission (PSC), and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). If you wish to submit a redistricting plan for consideration, please review the
redistricting criteria.
